Salmon Spot Price: Down
Prices slip to EUR 5.65 as supply pressure builds.
Norwegian salmon spot prices edged lower this week as export volumes climbed to a record for the second quarter, with harvest activity remaining elevated across the industry.
Industry sources quoted the Norwegian salmon spot price at around EUR 5.65 ($6.42) per kilo for the current week, down approximately EUR 0.18 ($0.20) from the previous week. The decline follows a period of sustained high harvest activity, with the largest producers accounting for the majority of fish entering the market.
Norwegian salmon exports reached 35,988 tonnes in week 25, up 10.4% year on year and 9.9% from the previous week, marking the highest weekly export volume recorded during the second quarter.
Shipments to France, Poland, Denmark, Spain and Italy all increased on a weekly basis.
Exports are approaching the industry’s effective licence capacity of around 40,000 tonnes per week, suggesting current shipment levels are close to the seasonal peak, according to analysts.
Export demand totalled EUR 213 million ($242 million), up 4% year on year and 2.6% from the previous week. Year-to-date demand growth stands at 5.6%, while second quarter demand is running 7.6% ahead of the same period last year.
